Maintenance Schedule
| Task | Frequency |
|---|---|
Stage 1 Sediment pre-filter (5 micron)
Removes sediment and particulates that would otherwise clog the membrane.
Every 6–12 Months |
Stage 2 Carbon block pre-filter
Removes chlorine and chloramines that would damage the RO membrane.
Every 6–12 Months |
Stage 3 Carbon block pre-filter (if 5-stage)
Second carbon stage for additional chloramine reduction. Not present on all systems.
Every 6–12 Months |
Membrane RO membrane
The heart of the system. Replace if TDS creeps up or water production slows significantly. Well-maintained membranes last longer.
Every 2–3 Years |
Post Polishing carbon filter (last stage)
Removes any residual taste before water reaches the faucet. Replace at same time as pre-filters.
Every 6–12 Months |
Sanitize system & storage tank
Flush the system with a food-safe sanitizer solution. Usually done at the same time as membrane replacement.
Annually |
Check storage tank pressure
The tank should have 6–8 PSI of air pressure (check when empty). Low pressure causes slow water production.
Annually |
