Reverse Osmosis

Reverse Osmosis
Maintenance Guide

Your under-sink RO system removes up to 99% of dissolved contaminants — including lead, arsenic, fluoride, nitrates, and chlorine — producing ultra-pure drinking water. Filter replacement every 6–12 months keeps it performing at its best.

Maintenance Schedule

TaskFrequency
Stage 1 Sediment pre-filter (5 micron)
Removes sediment and particulates that would otherwise clog the membrane.
Every 6–12 Months
Stage 2 Carbon block pre-filter
Removes chlorine and chloramines that would damage the RO membrane.
Every 6–12 Months
Stage 3 Carbon block pre-filter (if 5-stage)
Second carbon stage for additional chloramine reduction. Not present on all systems.
Every 6–12 Months
Membrane RO membrane
The heart of the system. Replace if TDS creeps up or water production slows significantly. Well-maintained membranes last longer.
Every 2–3 Years
Post Polishing carbon filter (last stage)
Removes any residual taste before water reaches the faucet. Replace at same time as pre-filters.
Every 6–12 Months
Sanitize system & storage tank
Flush the system with a food-safe sanitizer solution. Usually done at the same time as membrane replacement.
Annually
Check storage tank pressure
The tank should have 6–8 PSI of air pressure (check when empty). Low pressure causes slow water production.
