What's Actually in Houston Tap Water

Houston tap water is treated and meets federal standards — but "meets standards" doesn't mean "tastes good" or "contains nothing you'd prefer to remove."

🧪

Chlorine & Chloramines

Used for disinfection. Causes the "pool taste" many Houston residents notice. An RO membrane removes both completely.

⚗️

Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)

Includes calcium, magnesium, sodium, and other minerals. Houston water can be very high TDS. RO reduces this by 95%+.

🔬

Nitrates, Fluoride & More

An RO system filters a broad spectrum of contaminants that standard carbon filters leave behind — including nitrates and fluoride.

💧

Lead & Heavy Metals

Older pipes can leach lead and other metals into water. A properly rated RO membrane removes these before they reach your glass.

Under-Sink RO: Simple, Effective, Proven

A reverse osmosis system sits under your kitchen sink and connects directly to a dedicated faucet on the countertop or sink.

1

Sediment Pre-Filter

Removes particles, dirt, and rust before water reaches the membrane — extending membrane life.

2

Carbon Pre-Filter

Removes chlorine and chloramines that would damage the RO membrane and affect taste.

3

RO Membrane

Forces water through a semi-permeable membrane that blocks up to 99% of dissolved contaminants.

4

Storage Tank

Purified water is stored in a pressurized tank under your sink, ready on demand.

5

Carbon Post-Filter

A final polish filter improves taste before water flows from your dedicated RO faucet.

The Economics Are Clear

Most Houston families spending $30–60/month on bottled or filtered water can recoup the entire cost of an RO system within 12–18 months.

Reverse Osmosis Questions

Most under-sink RO installations are completed in 1–2 hours. Our plumber connects the system to your cold water supply line, installs the dedicated faucet (requires a small hole in your sink or countertop), and routes the drain line — everything included in one visit.
Yes — and we strongly recommend pairing them. A softener handles whole-home hardness at the entry point. An RO system then provides ultra-pure drinking water at the kitchen sink. Together, they cover both your appliances/pipes and your drinking water quality. This is our Whole Home Package.
Pre and post carbon filters are typically replaced every 6–12 months. The RO membrane itself lasts 2–3 years under normal conditions. Filter replacement is a simple DIY task for most homeowners — no plumber needed after the initial installation.
RO systems draw from a storage tank, so flow is slower than a standard faucet — but the tank holds enough water for normal drinking and cooking needs without any wait. If you notice the tank draining faster than it refills, we can evaluate your incoming pressure and adjust accordingly.
